I love that song. Maynard is obsessed with anal activities with Puscifer and Tool!

While I love some old Tool, there are also so many songs I consider plain boring. 10.000 days had some briliant songs on it, and then there were the weird, boring songs which were unlistenable.

The latest album was not even worth to buy for me. Pneuma is one of the most boring songs I’ve ever heard. They took 13 years to write a whole album that’s very unintersting to listen to. I love prog, my fav bands are all prog: Devin Townsend, Haken, Leprous, Dream Theater, Whom gods Destroy, Sons of Apollo, Pain of Salvation, Messuggah

But Tool went totally the wrong way for my taste.

I’m listening to the new Devin Townsend on green vinyl, as I write this. On a 1978 Toshiba stereo set and 1978 Canton speakers. I’m into classic audio too. Own a lot of gear and speakers.

Devin Townsend is awesome. I have to disagree about Pneuma. As a guitarist with a boyfriend who is a drummer, it has so much to enjoy, learn and marvel at the creativity of each member. 10,000 Days is an incredible album but Lateralus has some absolute gems. When I saw them this year they played mainly Fear Inoculum and Lateralus songs and the whole venue was on the edge of their seats. I guess because it had been so long since they played in the UK.

Ironically the tempo for Stinkfist is perfect for getting my ass fucked. I even turn around and take my boyfriend’s hand and during the middle 8 I’m sucking his cock lol

Quite a few bands there that I’ve not heard. I will have fun exploring. Thank you

You’re correct about the original usage of “backdoor man”. As you suggest, we find it works best for our anal only relationship. Who doesn’t prefer going in through the back door?

So, one could say you … “relax, turn around and …” take his hand?

Got it in one  It just it more fun although when enjoying DAP I generally do this on my back but I still try to make it sexy for everyone!

Yes ma’am
though I have to agree that fear innoculum didn’t quite do it for me like all the rest of tool’s work did.

Depending on my mood, it is my favourite album to listen to. I love the melancholy of songs like Culling Voices and the changes in dynamics in songs and between songs work well for my style of playing. In my old band we used to play 7empest or 46 + 2 and Parabola as well as stuff from Dream Theatre, Puscifer, The Cure and Rush!

It was a good idea to directly contrast old tool and fear inoculum. I think it’s generally a more subdued album than their previous work. Listening to the full album right now.
Some riffs seem a bit too derivative of lateralus, still, but it’s growing on me.

Btw, you said Maynard’s obsession for anal shows in Puscifer as well. Can you give me some examples? Never listened to much of that band.

Edit: Lateralus AND 10.000 days. Just got to “descending”.

Off the top of my head Queen B and DoZo are songs about anal sex hence why ‘V is for Vagina’ is one of my favourite old Puscifer albums

Thank you! I must say, Puscifer is not my thing any more.

I’m sorry. I can’t wait to see them touring in 2026. Have I done something wrong?

What? No, not at all! I didn’t mean to put you down in any way, just saying “Man, I used to like this, but not any more.” Tastes are different and I’m happy for you that you enjoy their music

Did Existential Reckoning put you off?

Haven’t listened to it yet, just went through a few songs and didn’t feel like listening to any more.

By the way, are you into Sleep? Their album “Dopesmoker” is just one one hour long song, and a lot of fun.

Not heard that before. If I get insomnia I will give it a go lol

MIght be a little too heavy to sleep to it ;). Imagine Kyuss, but much more sludgy and drawn out in a delicious way.
