It might be interesting to hear what everyone around here likes to hear. Whether it’s during your commute to work on during anal adventures. Are you more into classic rock while rocking that booty or do you only listen to sexology podcasts to up your game? Bluegrass or black metal? German hip hop or Peruvian folk songs?
I prefer metal over anything else. More if it’s orchestra + metal. I do like screams and gutturals, but only if they’re well-performed and I feel like they belong there.
It doesn’t mean that I don’t enjoy other genders, it’s simply that metal is the first type of music I’ve heard.
C’mon, even my description and username are references.
I love Norwegian Black Metal although Symphonic Metal / Black Metal is awesome. My older brothers are big fans of Death, Obituary, Carcass and Cannibal Corpse. They also have a special place in my collection. I lost my anal virginity to Guns n Roses - Rocket Queen!!
Aah, a topic dedicated to it.
I am a weirdo. I play vinyl mostly, I absolutly refuse to get a Spotify account, because they rip off musicians.
My musical taste goes everywhere. Here are my most played records the last years:
Dream Theater (the whole discography)
The Eagles (the long run home)
Fleetwood Mac (Tush)
Nothing but thieves (lastest)
Phil Collins (face vlue)
Savatage (whole discography)
Queensryche (most on vinhl)
Foo Fighters (latest two albums)
Rammstein (Zeit)
Haken (whole discograhpy)
Poalo Nutini (self titled)
Then to make clear how I am wired. There are also these:
Tori Amos
Bob Marley
Micheal Jackson
Ultravox
Metallica (and justice for all, bought in 1989)
My musical taste is wide and eclectic. Metal being the main road to travel. But no death metal or black metal. Messuggah is the heaviest I listen to.
I’ll never get a spotify account either, for the same reason. I have a big collection of CDs and quite a bit of vinyl as well.
I’ll have to re-rip all those CDs into FLACC at some point, before they degrade … a problem vinyl doesn’t have, as far as I know.
I’ve inherited a stack of vinyl records my brother bought since the mid 70s. Some were in poor condition.
I used a washing device and saved them all. They sound 95% as new. So I can confirm they they don’t degrade in sound. Just see that you used a good stylus.
Omg what a list. I love Dream Theatre, Metallica up to And Justice for all, ok Black Album has some good songs! I’ve seen Rammstein live and they blew me away but didn’t get the same blast from their albums. My boyfriend loves the Eagles and Fleetwood Mac. My Mum loves Phil Collins, she has all of his albums, him and Barry Manilow
Cool topic @aNewFrivolity! I love talking music…and gear. I’ve always been a music head and like many different styles, just not new pop or new country. I love me some old story-telling country or trucker songs (Dave Dudley), indie, psychedelic, metal, jazz, classic rock and especially 60s-70’s German Krautrock. I’m a big fan of Zappa, Beefheart, Bowie, T.Rex, Tom Waits…and WEEN! I’ve got a pretty decent vinyl collection but also have Spotify since I’ve got the music playing all day while I work. Been listening to a lot more jazz these days though.
Your comment made me give Neu! another spin, though just via the good ol’ youtube …
Love Bowie as well, never listened to enough Zappa but really like what I know, and Tom Waits is just fantastic!
Neu!..love it! Cluster, Harmonia, Ashra, Can…oh the list goes on. I got into this music a bit late so finding originals on vinyl is difficult and expensive, but it’s awesome that many of these albums are being reissued!
I have quite wide taste in music from Beatles to Black metal but closest to my heart is old classic rock and heavy. Bands like Deep Purple, Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Uriah Herp and such and then comes the 80’s rock and metal like Dio, Iron Maiden, Metallica, G’n’R… list goes on. I have played guitar 35 years and always been in bands, so music is more like a lifestyle to me.
Nice to know that someone else is to black metal too. I actually play guitar in black metal band.
I’ve been playing bassguitar in rock and metalbands from 1991 till 2020. Then I lost interest cause it gets harder, when you’re an old guy, to find like minded people to play original music with. Most moved to covers and I refuse to do that.
So I then kinda did a smooth switch into a related hobby. Buy, repair, use or sell, old hifi and loudspeakers. This way I also slid into vinyl listening and now only buy music on (mostly limited) colored vinyl.
There’s something about listening music on vinyl, which is very soothing to me. I want to create a musicroom just for that, so I can listen to music while my girlfriend sucks my dick, on her knees
Late 60’s boomer here so I concur on the classic rock choices. My faves Beatles and Stones (of course) but also Led Zeppelin, Allman Brothers, Wishbone Ash, Pink Floyd, Little Feat, Robin Trower, Frampton, Steve Miller, and so many more. Somewhat biased, but I believe I hit the sweet spot when the classic rock revolution occurred.
GenX male here, grew up in the awful 80s and had a lot of fun in the 90s.
Active musician as drummer in an amateur rockband, playing stuff like Soundgarden or Kyuss.
There is good music in every genre from Bach to Slayer, but there are two artists who had a huge and lasting impact on me:
- Tool
- Boards of Canada
Check it out …
I used to listen to so much Tool! Good stuff for sure, and desert rock is super fun as well!
Some awesome names there. Although I’m still a teenager I love Classic Rock. We had friends over last week and our anal fun was serenaded by Tool which went down well. ‘Stinkfist’ was the most popular song lol
Used to? You are under orders to put on Pneuma, Sober and Parabola. Do it now lol
I’m always looking for references to anal in music. Here’s the classic Backdoor Man
And another classic Whole Lotta Love with “I wanna be your backdoor man” towards the end of the song. I sing that part to my wife.
I had the “backdoor man” explained to me as the guy a woman cheats on her husband with. You know, cause he takes the back door into the house?
It works well for anal, too, of course!
As for other references, try Tool’s 4°.
Those 4° supposedly allude to the temperature difference vtween anus and vagina, and knowing that, well … the song becomes special!
