A Study on Anal Orgasm

Is there a link to this study? I am afraid when it comes to studies, unless it’s peer reviewed double blind (that is, DAP between blind people) I find the results unreliable. Seriously though, when you say study that puts it in another category beyond anecdotal evidence which is pretty much what this forum is, so I would like to be able to evaluate it.

Got it from an article posted on the pay site Medium. The sample size is tiny and I can’t say if there’s any statistical significance to the study.

Furthermore, NO such study could be considered absolutely valid as it depends entirely on the truthfulness of those questioned. I suppose it’s possible to have scientists observe study participants engaging in anal sex and attach many electrodes to the body and brain of the people claiming to experience orgasm. Also I’m sure there’s a way to observe changes in the brain through an MRI process, but I think it would be difficult for people to engage in anal sex in the typical MRI machine!

I can attach the link if you like, but you’ll need to register and pay for a subscription to Medium to read it. For what it’s worth, I have read accounts from many women who say anal orgasms come easier to them than during vaginal penetration.

Here’s a screenshot of the article in Medium. The article addresses the “orgasm gap” between men and women. Not surprisingly (to me) was the incredibly high percentage of both men and women who orgasm from anal.

A lot of research on sexuality is also done with a foregone conclusion. For example, a huge chunk of the few papers we have on squirting try to prove that “it’s pee you disgustong perverts, now stop bothering us pure womanfolk with it!”
Luckily, some proper research also exists, which tells us there’s at least two mechanisms at work, there’s squirting and there’s gushing, there can be a bit of urine in squirt, but not necessarily, and a lot of other stuff, too, not found in urine ever
But those voices are often drowned out.

And like it was previously said, is anal what makes them cum or are people who practice anal just more likely to get off? People who are more open minded in bed probably just have better sex

My understanding is that the fluid contains a small amount of urine but it also contains Fructose and PSA. Owing to the fact that the Skeen gland is located so close to the urethra, urine also forms part of the fluid but only a small amount. I’ve squirted from anal as well as vaginal sex which can be fun!

It is a super complicated process to research. Depending on how you measure, what you measure, etc… you get different results. The scientists can’t even reach a consensus on how to name the thing.
But yeah, skene’s gland is generally mentioned, as well as fructose/glucose and PAS/PAP concentration. There seem to be ways the bladder can fill up during sex with a liquid that’s not (only) urine …
And then there’s ways of making women squirt I tried myself that involve the g-spot area which … might simply not be a distonct anatomical feature. It’s complicated, and people wanting to only prove that it’s pee are not really helping.

The fluid doesn’t look or taste like pee so why do people insist that it is?

There’s a weird, pseudo-feminist (if you ask me) and deeply sex-negative position that basically says that squirting was invented by the porn industry, adds another thing women are supposed to perform for the benefit of men and not for themselves, and that it has nothing to do with how sex “actually” looks like.
By saying “look you perverts it’s been pee all along!” they want to show that it’s been a scam all along.
It’s not, though, and we’ve got accounts of women squirting going back thousands of years.

I’ll choose to ignore the “all forms of sex is rape” crowd and believe my own lived experience.

Six years ago, and before we moved three years ago, Mrs Colt started hormone replacement therapy. This was the precursor to her now strong preference for anal sex. As our anal journey began, she was a strong gusher… As @aNewFrivolity mentioned earlier, it was never forceful squirting as depicted in porn. Her favorite foreplay is 69 while I fuck her ass with plugs and dildos. There were times she gushed so much I would choke on the quantity of fluid she produced. I’d try to swallow but couldn’t keep up. Try swallowing lots of water lying flat on your back! It was clear and had no taste, although my face and tongue were buried in her pussy which does have its own unique fragrance.

She also used to gush during anal penetration. During missionary anal, I’d see her pussy well up with clear liquid until it spilled over providing natural anal lubricant. I used to refer to this as her built in lube dispenser. Three years ago we moved, and she’s seeing another doctor for HRT. Her new physician dialed back her hormone cocktail (primarily the testosterone) and the gushing during anal, sadly, has disappeared. Her gushing has been significantly reduced and primarily occurs when I stretch her ass with our larger, 2” diameter plugs. I miss her prolific gushing.

In the nearly three years she gushed heavily in my mouth I have never detected the presence of urine. We’re not into piss play but I have no problem tasting or swallowing my wife’s juices.

Last, every sex act involves the exchange of body fluids including natural vaginal excretions, semen, ass jelly (my term), and saliva. Anyone rejecting the notion of a woman gushing during vaginal or anal intercourse or masturbation is simply miserable at the thought some people are simply enjoying themselves! Their loss IMHO. As always, my very graphic two cents.

Yeah, I squirt and the “it’s just urine” crowd are decidedly wrong. It might be in porn, but it isn’t in real life. And I certainly wasn’t trying to squirt the first time I did it either. I was actually very surprised because I definitely didn’t think I would/could.

Yes well that is what I was afraid of. Those stats can not be extrapolated to anything meaningful about the general popoulation. Apart from the sample size being small, it would probably be a biased group and not a randomised sample of the general population. There is selection bias from the start if the study is run from a porn or sex site, the members are already very interested in sex! So high numbers of anal orgasm are not that surprising, leaving aside issues with veracity.

There’s a general problem when studying specific sex acts: You could theoretically ask one million women how much they enjoy a) vaginal sex b) anal sex c) oral sex and how often they come from each act, You would still get skewed results.
Why?
Because like most women who like anal will tell you, it’s a process to learn to enjoy it. Not everyone has a patient, considerate partner, not everyone has consent-centric sex to begin with. So grouping the whole study as if all sex was equal is the first mistake, basically, but one you can’t avoid.
You can’t do qualitative (in what way is something done) and quantitative (how much of something is there) studies at the same time.
I think if you want to convince women to give anal a try, such studies can be a place to start, but maybe a book like *The Ultimate Guide to Anal Sex" by Tristan Taormino might be better. It has lots of accounts of women (and excerpts from erotic fiction) on top of well-thought out arguments and of course anatomical and sexual knowledge on the topic.

You make some great points. Particularly having a patient and understanding partner. My boyfriend was initially ambivalent about anal sex. He was worried he might hurt me, bless him!
As our confidence with anal sex grew and meeting like minded people, our anal journey took us places we never thought possible

Same. I am aware how lucky I was my first time. And since then I have been with guys who need to be told to chill out. But when you’re young and inexperienced you don’t know these things, and lots of girls are scared to say what they want, need, and more importantly don’t want.

I was 17 when I first tried anal. My ex was not gentle or loving. He ‘encouraged’ me to try anal even though I was not prepared and to be honest didn’t really have a clue. I was a big fan of oral sex so I guess he thought I would welcome ATM. Unfortunately he wasn’t very clean but I did it never the less. That was the last time we did anal but it intrigued me so when I got comfortable with Dale, I was able to encourage him to try it. 15 months later I’m so glad.
